Visual Conditions We Treat
-
Dr. Weekley provides a thorough evaluation to uncover the root cause of a patient’s double vision. Treatment options include specialty lenses and prisms, in-office vision therapy, or a combination of both.
-
When reading or using the computer continually leads to symptoms such as headaches, fatigue, fluctuating blurry vision, and reduced reading speed and comprehension from frequently losing one’s place, it may indicate a visual efficiency disorder. Dr. Weekley evaluates the core skills required for optimal visual performance including:
Visual Tracking Skills
Visual Teaming Skills
Visual Focusing Skills
-
Visual processing is how the brain is able to interpret, understand, and remember information we take in through our eyes. When a student is struggling in school, it may be due to poor visual processing. Visual processing skills include:
Visual Spatial (important for letter orientation such as b, d, p, q)
Bilaterality
Laterality
Directionality
Visual Analysis (important for skills such as reading, spelling, and memory)
Visual Discrimination
Visual Figure Ground
Visual Closure
Visual Attention and Processing Speed
Visual Memory
Visualization
Visual Motor Integration (important for handwriting and sports)
Eye-Hand Coordination
Visual Motor Ergonomics
Visually Guided Fine Motor Control
Planning of Complex Spatial Patterns

Here at Aligned Vision Therapy, we specialize in eye misalignments seen in a condition called Strabismus, commonly referred to as an “eye turn.” Dr. Weekley expertly examines each patient’s eye alignment and determines which type of Strabismus they have and what treatment option(s) work best.
A condition called Amblyopia, commonly referred to as a “lazy eye” can either accompany Strabismus or may be present on its own.
Lazy eye refers to one eye (or both eyes in some rare cases) that the brain has begun to ignore due to various causes. When it comes to Amblyopia (lazy eye) early intervention is critical! Lazy eye is a time-sensitive condition and treatment is most effective in patients before they reach 7 years of age.
If your child failed a school-based vision screening due to one eye not seeing as well as the other, do not delay. Call our office to schedule an evaluation to determine if Amblyopia is present.

Dr. Weekley is residency trained in Acquired Brain Injury and Vision Rehabilitation. If you or someone you know is experiencing visual problems after a brain injury such as a stroke or a concussion, please reach out to our office.
We are here help, and we understand the difficulties and overall impact these acquired visual problems have on activities of daily living. Vision problems caused by brain injuries include, but are not limited to:
Double vision
Blurry vision
Visual field loss
Dizziness
Motion sickness
Poor coordination
Difficulty judging distances
Poor depth perception
Brain fog
Hard time concentrating
Difficulty reading
Difficulty remembering
Light sensitivity
Feeling overwhelmed / overstimulated in crowded or visually “busy” environments such as stores
-
Our visual system plays a key role in our general coordination in terms of depth perception and judging distances. Clumsiness, poor sports ability, and difficulty with such skills as parking a car, etc. can indicate a visual problem. Additionally, poor handwriting can be a sign of poor eye-hand coordination (visual motor integration). At Aligned Vision Therapy we evaluate and treat coordination issues caused by visual skills deficits.
-
Some patients experience general dizziness (disequilibrium) when they move their head and their eyes. Our visual system (eyes) and our vestibular system (responsible for balance) are interconnected. When these two systems are out of sync, we experience a generalized feeling of imbalance and dizziness directly related to poor Visual-Vestibular integration. If you or someone you know has dizziness triggered by head and eye movements, please contact our office.
